The one time, The ONE Time, we make it to a football tournament it is suddenly needless? We are having the tournament even if the Apocalypse happens

I don't care if it takes place in the Antarctica, as long as it takes place.

Or I don't know, split between Antarctica and some other completely brain-dead place to organise a football tournament, like in the middle of some fucking desert, like Qatar or some shit

That's Xhaka. I made fun of Xhaka during the EUros, didn't I? At least the cards and club performance. And Arsenal was baited by his national team performance and renewed.

Barcelona right now is a mediocre team! It will have problems finishing in top 4 in La Liga. Not so sure if it will finish in the top 2 in it's Champions League Group. Also, Luke de Jong is even weaker than Braithwaite! I suppose this is the Barcelona we will see in the following 2-3 years! Visca Barca!

Bayern did a really good job, but Barca made it easy. I like that they brought in a type of player that is different from the usual forward-midgets they prefer, but De Jong is not good enough for a club that once belonged to the best in the world and aspires to get back to that level.

In my opinion, if Gnabry and Sane get back to their form, Bayern is one of the top contenders for the League, even though, from what i've read the "specialists" consider PSG, M City and Chelsea to be the most likely winners. But the season is long and a lot can change in the meantime!

they are both improving week to week. them on form would put them into the group of favorites. Musiala is also crazy strong, Hernandez and Upamecano as CBs could finally end the weakness that was the defense.

Koeman finally gone. I guess we wait for Ole to be sacked to hire him to have the cheapest and worst replacement possible

Most likely it will be Xavi, which will be a gamble since he hasn't proved anything yet! Ole should follow Koeman soon, indeed! There Zidane would be the top choice in my opinion!

Uff, Zidane as Real legend probably can't and won't take over Barca. I also doubt that he is the right person to build up a team without having "daddys bankaccount" and Ronaldo to rely on.

I think Xavi is a very good idea, tho not every intelligent and tactic driven player has the ability to convert that to a coaching position.

Probably thinking Zidane to ManU. Where he would have Ronaldo to rely on.
Xavi, yeah, only coaching experience from sand hell is not the greatest.
Then again, Bartomeu was Espanyol through and through and a Real MVP, so hiring Zidane to finish the job would make a interesting end to the Catalans, which you just follow for the drama these days

The Catalans sounds like an HBO show I would not watch LUL
I just hope they make good choices and rely on their youth department. Fati and Pedri show that it still holds a lot of value.
Tho their pursuit of that 1,5 billion investment speaks a different language.

Yeah there is promise in the youngsters. But you sign Luuk de Jong which was disappointing even in Sevilla

But you can't rely on too many youth players if you want immediate performance and, also, these youth players need to grow with wins. What i'm saying is you can't have half the team constantly filled with 17-19 year olds and expect to fight for the championship and to go past the group phases in the Champ League.
In 3-4 years, sure, they might turn into a powerful team, but you also need wins to build confidence and for that you need mature valuable players in key positions.
About Zidane - i was thinking he was good for Man Utd, not for Barca. I doubt it's possible for him to ever coach Barcelona.

I wouldnt be so quick to rule out a youth team these days. they might not win titles, but getting that ton of experience could prove deadly combined with that talent that comes from the academy.
If it is clearly communicated that Barca is not expecting titles for 2-3 years, plays their heart out with a young team, giving those talents long lasting contracts, they could grow into a force to be respected rather sooner than later.
It would combine the talent that comes from la masia, with the infrastructure that a big club like Barca already has. Top players in a couple of years with little investment. And if you sell one or two of those talents you will be able to strengthen the squad with elite players again.
Leipzig, Salzburg and Ajax showed in recent years that young teams can make an uproar in CL, being virtually unaffected by the pressure. That would be where I hope Barca sees itself in the coming years.

That would be really healthy, indeed!
Bayern looked scary good last night. Those 3 speeders behind lewandowski can wreck anyone, as long as they are in top form. But the season is long and "unexpected" games can happen in the Champ League.
Right now the top contenders, in this order, are (in my opinion ofc): Bayern, Liverpool, Man City.

I was hoping for 3 speedy guys behind Lewa for a long time now, tho Müller is obviously a different kind of weapon. It also was very uncommon and crazy hard to defend, as they were generally in a 3-1-5-1 formation with Kimmich dropping deep. So it actually was Davies, Coman, Gnabry and Sane all behind Lewandowski sitting on the shoulders of the defense or dropping deep to lure out the CBs and make tons of room for those.

I think Müller as a roaming CM instead of OM in his coming years could be crazy with his willingness to close down the meters, leaving the more offensive roles to Gnabry Sane and Coman/Musiala/Davies. What really makes me hope for a good CL season is that they have more tools and more ways to break down a defense now, not only "ball to Lewa, goal".

I also would not rule out Chelsea and PSG in the title fight. But Bayern vs Liverpool will be the deciding match in my opinion, whenever that happens during the tournament.
