new headset

My G35 headset is slowly dying... bits and pieces are starting to fall off and I need more duct tape to keep it stuck to my head. Any good headset advice? It needs a mic and I couldn't care less how it looks. Sturdy is more important than it being cheap, but let's not overspend...

What I like about my G35 is the USB plug-n-play, and the large earpieces that cover the ears. 7.1 sound is ok, but not really needed.

Any ideas?

as u know i will just recommend my headset again: sennheiser pc155/pc165. usb stereo headset, tra
comfortable(u wont know its there as its ultra light), resistant(i got mine 8 or 9 years now)

if you like big earpads u may also look for those icemat headsets. i think they were pretty awesome too.

This is what I'd go for ( it's not USB, but these have been the best ones I've used so far ) http://www.qpad.com/products/headsets/QH-90-Black/

Awesome sound quality, very light on your head and the mic is connected to the headset with a 3,5mm jack and you can remove it if you don't need it.

Only downside I've come up with so far is the volume/mic off/on "box" thingy which is very light too, but also a bit annoying sometimes.

If you wan't to spend a bit more than that, I'd go for these: http://en-de.sennheiser.com/gaming-headset-pc-350-special-edition

I've tested these, because TBone686 has them and my god they are good too! Just a bit pricey for my taste.

200€ for a gaming headset is pretty hipster imo.

ye i wanted to go for the pc360 instead of the g4me one but apparently this is the successor. 200€ is also a little much for me.

but since my last sennheiser lasted for 7 years and im not the kind of guy who destroys them every 3 months i can invest a little.

also heard about the kraken being good.

thing is: online you read that headphones with external mics are always better than gaming headsets in terms of performance/prize

I've tried the kraken in a store 2 weeks ago and it felt somewhat wierd on my head. Some people also like the Plantronics GameCom line... i bought the Siberia v3 since it was in a amazon flash sale for 70€ instead of 100€

yeah i didn't like the kraken neither when i tried it in store.
my old sennheiser pc161 still works after dunno 8? years, but i got myself a steelseries siberia on christmas 2012 because i wanted a headset which would seal the ears from enviromental noises.
even though people say that the steelseries stuff breaks quite easy, i can't reinforce that opinion. i rolled over the cable like a hundred times already and everything still works.

in terms of quality i can't complain either, it feels soft, pleasant and not heavy even after hours of wearing and the mic, which can be put into the headphones, is pretty good too, at least for
the normal use on ts.
iirc i paid like 60-70€ and for that money i haven't had a better headset yet.

gud looks, pleasant to wear, good price-performance ratio, what u want moar.

Spoiler:

the sound quality of the siberia is probably one of the best of its price category

I use this

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JJNQG98/?tag=geo02a9-20

was nominated a several times as the best "quality" gaming headset.

I really like it, but I prefer small headsets.

sofar regarding all the products here, i also would go for this one since sennheiser is masterrace and every shit with fake 5.1 or 7.1 is rip anyways and a good table micro cost about 2-4 euro but then you "strim" also the enviroment or need to get used to pushtotalk

would probably need a soundcard then i guess
something like zis

they say the 558 is possible with onboard sound but those headphones need a bigger powersource i guess

a friend of mine is using these + mic on the table. the sound is unbelievable. its so much better as all these shiny herp derp pro-ultra-special-series stuff
http://www.amazon.de/Sennheiser-HD-25-1 ... er+hd+25-1

i am using a Teufel Headphone which i bought on discount a while ago. For ~60€ it provides really good sound quality and is very comfortable.
http://www.teufel.de/kopfhoerer/kopfhoe ... p2110.html

i recommend to go for separate earphone and mic cause i am convinced that you will get more quality for less price this way.

well with your b-series mainboard you probably have one of the worst sound chips so buying this is for sure not wrong in your case, for the mic;

If I were you, I would go for regular headphones and a seperate microphone. It's cheaper and you get way better quality for both components.

The Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro headphones are 150ish EUR and most probably the #1 headphones under 200 EUR. A random microphone will be 5 EUR. That's probably something like what you paid for the G35 (?)

Other than that, I used cable ties to fix my G35. I can take a photo if you want to give it a try. I won't be home before next week, though.

ok i ordered the hd 558 now,

i had a hard time deciding between it and the dt-990 which is also often recommended
http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0011UB ... rd_i=typ01

the 558 is supposed to be the better allrounder and better for 3d-display
also i can continue to use the sennheiser masterrace
bought the xonar dgx soundcard and zalman mic for now

i will do a review of my impressions on zis setup soon (still paid ~160€ and probably have shit mic quality but i hope the headphones pay off)

for streaming ill probably need a solid desktop mic, but since the zalman is only 5 bucks i dont care for now
