I did not like the Veyron at all, but the new Bugatti is amazing.

Don't crash it again, tho. :)

My mom is apparently going to buy a car for me, she found one nearby, and already made an appointment to check it out tomorrow. It's allegedly a Polo 9N1 1.4 with 100 HP, but my mom doesn't know much about cars and the seller already deleted the entry on the website, because he was getting too many calls, so I really don't know. She said it looked good in the photos and has a relatively low mileage of 118k km. Not quite my dream car, but unless it turns out to be garbage, I don't really get a say in it, and it's not all that bad either. If it really is the 9N1 with the AUB/BBZ engine, it's apparently actually a very solid car. I just need to make sure it's got the heated crankcase ventilation and doesn't have any other problems. I won't really be able to look for any issues, though, because tomorrow's a sunday and I have to go to a seminar for 3 more days, so I won't get to lift it up and check it out at work until thursday.

I didn't crash it, I already bought it crashed because it only has 78k on the clock :P
Good luck with your first car, Polo is probably a better idea than the ford probe you had in mind some time ago :SOA: Where do you work btw?

automotive technician at a local workshop

And I'd probably still prefer a Probe over this, especially considering the price difference (the polo is 3.3k, probably 3k after negotiations). I'm not a huge fan of hatchbacks. Golf2, Golf4, A3, they're alright, the others are not really my cup of tea.

I bought this as a salvage in the summer for 2.2k.

On the road now using it as my get to work car, german engineering at its best. Rare, fast ,comfy with massage seats included, all good apart from consumption :SOA:

in the UK the production year is on the number plate, 2008 and its the v6 tdi 233bhp. Getting parts for it is not easy. Radiator came from USA, condenser from Sweden, bumper from Czech republic, fog light plastic covers from Germany and rest from UK. When I went to Costco last weekend they quoted me £900 for set of winter michelins. QQ

engine parts are easy to source, same drivetrain as A8. 270k km on the clock and you can't tell when driving. Already got spare air suspension struts and compressor as that was then only thing I was worried about.

But yeah, I hope it wont.

Maybe easy to source, but still very expensive on a car like that

Meh.

The polo didn't have the 100hp engine.

The seller warmed it up and then lied about it when I asked why he did that.

There was a strange clicking noise, especially the first few kilometers, the engine didn't seem to run as smoothly as it should. Could have been a really small issue, but it's a risk I cannot afford to take. This is probably why he warmed it up first, probably would have been even worse with a cold engine.

The exhaust manifold seemed to have a leak. Not really a big deal, but still.

It's a shame, because other than that, it was in fantastic condition.

Dedication is not the problem. I just don't have the money for it. And the engine wouldn't have been worth it anyway.
